Au moment où je vous parle Stefan Otto et Thomas List (vus chez Solblot) viennent de sortir leur second album, Palingenesis, accompagnés par Katharina Hoffman (violon). L'occasion de se repencher sur leur excellent méfait précédent. Puisant son inspiration dans la nature, la spiritualité et littérature locale (Gertrud Kolmar, Georg Trakl, Stefan George), Vigil fait naturellement penser à Forseti, Neun Welten et co., dans le bon sens du terme. Otto assure ici le chant, la guitare et les percussion alors que son comparse s'occupe de la seconde gratte. Mais le duo ne se rétreint pas pour autant à la formule boy-scout (pourtant parfaitement efficace ici) puisque d'autres musiciens font une apparition (discrète). Ainsi, Christian Kolf (Island, Valborg, Woburn House) chante sur une paire de titre, Jan Buckard tient la basse, Uta Rölle le violon tandis que Michail Ershov et Andrey Lazarew se partagent l'accordéon. On compte pas moins de trois instrumentaux, polissant un peu plus l'ambiance forestière de l'opus, déjà bien retranscrite par une production exemplaire.

It is at this time of the year – when the last leaves have fallen and the land lies bare and bleak –, when man has to lay down his weapons and confess his weakness towards the omnipotence of nature. It is the time of coming home, embracing the beloved ones and drawing nearer to the fire. For those, who wander lonely through the nights, it is the time of introspectiveness, sorrow and despair. With their music, Nebelung capture these feelings, mirroring in autumn rain and winter nights."
